Colorful lights and license plates adorn the indoor bar area at Tin Roof in Westport.
Nashville’s Tin Roof is now open in the heart of Westport — more than two years after its originally scheduled opening date.
“It’s a live music venue with a full-service bar and Southern-inspired bar food done right,” said Josh Boor, general manager.
Rusting metal gasoline signs and vintage license plates are part of the decor, with a small silver disco ball over the dance floor. Colorful holiday lights circle the bar. An upper mezzanine will have tables overlooking the stage, dance floor and dining area. Outside tables are set up on a turfed area with a bar in a converted shipping container.
Over the elevated stage in bright red neon: Drink. Dance. Repeat.
Popular menu items include its Nashville hot chicken sandwich — with just a touch of heat — served on Texas toast with ranch potato salad and pickles, along with its Street Corn quesadillas with jack cheese, charred corn, cotija, spicy mayo, rib rub, cilantro and lime.
It also has a variety of tacos, including pulled pork, beer-battered avocado, and the ’Merican with ground beef chili rolled in caramelized Jack cheese; a “world famous” selection of quesadillas; burgers including a barbecue one with pulled pork; sandwiches; chicken tenders and wings with a choice of 10 different sauces; sloppy nachos with crema and barbecue sauce; loaded tots; and salads.
“We don’t have a big freezer. Our food is made in-house fresh daily,” Boor said.
It has classic and craft cocktails, shots (including a cinnamon toast breakfast shot), craft beers, wine and more.
The location, at 424 Westport Road, was scheduled to open in early 2020. But the pandemic pushed back the opening as the company concentrated on its established locations and keeping its workers on the payroll.
It is open from 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily, lunch on Fridays starting at 11 a.m. and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It has weekday drink and food happy hour specials.
On Monday nights it has a house band and open jam sessions. Tuesdays it offers $2 tacos and drink specials all day with live music at night. Wednesdays are Dance Party Karaoke. Thursdays it will have more drink specials and a live band from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a D.J. from 9 p.m. to close. Fridays will have live music from dinner through late night. Saturdays and Sundays it will offer live entertainment all day.
Tin Roof first opened in Nashville in 2002, and it currently has 19 locations. It plans to open in New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Fayetteville, Arkansas, this year.
Regulars just call it “The Roof.”
“We want to make everyone feel like a regular,” Boor said.
Sailor Jack’s Snack Shack formerly operated in the space but it closed in late 2018.
Fountain Haus also recently opened across the street in the former HopCat space.
