The New York Mills Regional Cultural Heart announces its December 2021 Gallery Present: “Notes from New York Mills” by Artist Brett Lysne.

This show includes two bodies of perform, “Notes from New York Mills,” produced during Lysne’s artist residency at the Cultural Center’s Arts Retreat in 2014 and “North Dakota Point out Maps,” produced between 2012-2014.

Lysne is a visual artist who functions in drawing, printmaking, artist publications and electronic media, and teaches printmaking and drawing at Minnesota State University in Moorhead.

“Notes from New York Mills” is a sequence of ephemeral mixed media drawings layered on white ink display screen printed on tan paper.

The “North Dakota State Maps” was finished in the summer months of 2012, and mixed pen, graphite and other drawing products on paper to create fields of connected text in the shape of a point out Lysne longed to return to: North Dakota.
