Thirsty Ears, Chicago’s Only Classical Music Avenue Fest, Returns To Ravenswood This Weekend

RAVENSWOOD — Thirsty Ears Street Festival is back again this weekend on Wilson Avenue.

The fourth version of the classical tunes avenue fest operates 2-10 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday on Wilson Avenue between Hermitage and Ravenswood avenues.

Attendees can appreciate hour-by-hour classical audio performances showcasing renowned soloists and ensembles. Performers will be showcasing music from “Bach to Shostakovich to Reich and all the things in between” on the centre stage.

The avenue fest will also have beer and wine stations, food trucks and vendor booths. Extra actions incorporate a Mini Silent Film Competition, an “Instrument Petting Zoo” in the Kids’ Zone and sponsored food items vehicles.

Admission is free of charge, even though there is a $15 proposed donation at the gate.

The function is hosted by the Obtain Up to date New music group, the Ravenswood-primarily based corporation that fosters the art sort of classical new music.

Proceeds for the pageant will go to the organization’s University of Tunes to deliver obtainable tunes instruction to college students of all ages. Courses consist of composition, voice, movie scoring and other classical instrument coaching.
