It is important that you use the correct props in your photos. If you are in doubt about which props to use, you should experiment and find out which works best. However, it is a good idea to keep in mind that props are used to make a scene look real or send a statement to the onlooker about the scene in front of them. It doesn’t necessarily have to make sense. For instance, just think of the perfume industry and its photos.
#1 Choosing your location
Depending on what feel you want to create for your photos and the props that you want to use will decide what location suits the situation the best. In fact, you can carry out all of your photography desires in a studio, but this could very well depend on what size props you are using and whether it not you want that very real feeling. You’ll quickly find that there are pros and cons to shooting photos in the right location and using a studio.
#2 Getting your props there
Regardless of where you are going to be stationed, you are going to have to get your props to the location. If you are only taking a few, you may very well be able to take them with you. However, if you are looking at taking quite a few or using large props such as luxury RVs you are going to have to get some RV transport involved. For some, this may seem a little daunting, but there are companies that can make this feel more like a stroll in the park rather than a mountain hike that you think it to be. No doubt you will want to find out more about RV transport.
#3 Making the most of what you have
Undeniably you are going to want to make the most of your efforts, especially if you have had to move mountains in order to get your location looking exactly as you want it and containing all of the props that you have envisaged. It is a good idea that you take as many photos as you possibly can while experimenting with all of the props that you have to hand. You may very well be surprised at how well some of them turn out, and you may very well be able to use them for other projects in the future.
#4 Getting the lighting right
You’ll quickly find that if you are using a studio for your photo shoot, you will probably find that the lighting is near perfect due to you having total control over it and being able to angle it exactly as you want. However, if you are out on location, this can be a lot trickier, even if you have your very own lighting equipment with you. Although you can probably do a certain amount with filters and effects when you use editing software on your computer, it is likely that you are going to want a natural element within your photo too. Otherwise, you would not have opted for an exterior location over the opportunity of using a well-equipped studio facility.
