In the exhibition “Barbara Wolff : Photographs“ at the Goethe-Institut Bordeaux, works from the sequence “Biography“ (1982 – 1989), “Metropolis“ (2018 – 2020) as very well as “Amazonia“ (2019) will be demonstrated in collaboration with Collection Regard Berlin.

In the series “Biography“ she observed lifetime on equally sides of the Iron Curtain. Like few photographers, she has been ready to reflect on her images and encounters on both facet of Germany – before the drop of the wall. The collection “Metropolis“ displays the city house in the 21st century. The images notify of inhabitants and their urban natural environment. Styles of the metropolis emerge, networks of relationships between people today, architecture and (true or synthetic) character. It is about the transformation of the city, about provocation and chaos. The concept is to understand solution spots but also to share visions.
We take a look at S-Bahn stations, Berlin waterways, graffiti partitions and complete procuring malls, but also see the famed (vacant) Berlin squares and stand in entrance of the closed doorways of techno clubs in the Corona calendar year 2020. At first posted on Instagram, Wolff´s Berlin photos from the Metropolis collection are assembled in the book METROPOLIS posted by the publishing dwelling LUNIK BERLIN.

Barbara Wolff found the motives for the collection “Amazonia“ in the course of her keep for an exhibition in Belém, Brazil 2019. The heat and humid tropical weather and existential environmental and social conditions ascertain the lives of the folks. Wolff‘s images explain to of love and function and days when the boundaries among the two blur.

Barbara Wolff (*1951) grew up in the GDR and researched images at the Academy of Fantastic Arts Leipzig. In 1985 she moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. Her absolutely free photographic works have been proven in Berlin (2017, 2020, 2021), Arles (2018, 2021), Vendome (2019), Geneva (2019), Belém (Brazil, 2019) and Paris (2021) and they are present in countrywide and global collections.
