Banff Centre hires new visible arts director

BANFF – The Banff Centre has a new director to oversee all programming and residencies in just the visible arts realm.

Ingrid Mary Percy, who was introduced as the new director of Visible Arts and Residencies Sept. 14, has a observe observe document as an educator at the publish-secondary amount, as an administrator, an artist, and an arts advocate.

“The Visual Arts and Residency plan is a cornerstone of our inventive foundation and talent improvement stream,” said  Janice Cost, president and CEO of Banff Centre.

For more than two decades, Percy has been a practicing visible artist, educator and cultural chief in Canada, exhibiting her function regionally, nationally and internationally, and functioning in article-secondary establishments – the College of Victoria, Emily Carr University of Artwork + Layout, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Percy also writes, curates, and plays new music. A powerful believer in community services and advocacy, she has served on the boards of a lot of non-profits which includes Open up Place, Eastern Edge, Visible Artists Newfoundland and Labrador, and Canadian Artists’ Illustration/Les entrance des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) Countrywide, in which she was vice-president, president, and earlier-president.

She was chair of the Visual Arts Program, Graduate Officer of the MFA Method and affiliate professor in the Visual Arts Application in the College of Good Arts at Memorial College of Newfoundland and, most lately, interim dean of the School of Great Arts.

Visual Arts at Banff Centre presents extraordinary packages for professional artists, curators, art critics and scientists, as nicely as practicum possibilities for rising practitioners. Visual Arts also supports, develops, and provides contemporary art through the Walter Phillips Gallery.
