3 Simple Ways To Get Yourself Out of a Rut

Yoshiko Yap

If you’ve been feeling listless, unsure of yourself, and uninterested in daily life, you might be stuck in a rut. Here are some simple tips to help you get back on track.

1. Get Back to the Basics

Listen to what your body is telling you. Are you tired because you haven’t gotten enough sleep lately? Are you cranky because you are missing a meal or a snack? Are you lonely because you haven’t socialized with friends, loved ones, or new people in the last week?

Ensuring that these basic human needs are met is vital to your mental and physical health, and it will help you feel like yourself again. It is also important to practice rituals that encourage proper hygiene, such as showering at least every two days and brushing your teeth twice daily.

2. Engage in a Fulfilling Activity

Return to an old hobby or consider finding a new one to keep your mind and body occupied. It may be hard to get yourself into the activity at first, but it will become easier and more enjoyable over time.

If you are a spiritual person, talking to a psychic or to other spiritually-minded people might help you reconnect with your roots. You can find many spiritual communities through online research, and you can even receive a psychic reading over the phone if you would prefer to communicate remotely.

3. Go Outside

Being cooped up indoors for a long period of time can lead to feelings of isolation and apathy. Taking a walk outside can dramatically improve your state of mind. Even if you prefer to be indoors, it is a good idea to walk outside and feel the sun, wind, or rain on your face for five minutes. It’s likely that you will begin to feel better.

Being stuck in a rut can feel very unpleasant. Fortunately, completing these three basic tasks every day will help you feel more grounded.
